Sinopsis: A “catch” is a captured body. A body – person or animal – that tries or might try to escape. It is a body that sets offshore in hope for a better life. It’s the body caught in the net of circumstances, choices and its own limitations. The net sticks to the skin. It is a body that swims, floats, drowns or finds the dreamed land.
Bio: Valentina Lacmanović is a performance artist and video maker. She creates performances, videos and interdisciplinary artwork based on her research on convergences and divergences between contemporary visions of performance and enacting of rituals. Studied Drama in Paris (CNSAD – French National Academy of Dramatic Arts) and worked as an actress for a decade in France while she studied contemporary dance. Has a master degree in Philosophy (Aesthetics – at Université Paris VIII) “Fascination with ugliness”). Fluent in five languages. Since 1999 research ritual as origin of performance art. Studies various dance techniques and martial arts and meets with ritual dances of trance, which became the main inspiration for her performances. Valentina also creates experimental video artwork based on organic relation between the camera and the body in movement.
