Kaveh Mazaheri – A reprot about Mina

Synopsis: Mina is a drug addicted woman of the slums in Tehran. She is living in ruins surrounded by the junk and wearing men clothes. All her womanish dream is having a normal life. Because of this dream, she has decorated ruined walls with items collected in junk. She loves street dogs like her kids and homeless people around as members of her family, a family that has been together to use drug. Now she is the godmother of dogs and street people.

This film is a narration of thirteen days of Mina’s Life, a sad thirteen days of New Year holidays.

Bio: Born 1981 in Tehran, Iran. An interest in cinema led Mazaheri to begin writing film criticism for Iranian magazines after graduating from college in 2004. His first short film, Tweezers (2007), was censored in Iran. To date, he has made three independent short films and more than twenty short and long documentaries for broadcast on Iranian television. His work has been officially selected by festivals in Iran including the Tehran International Short Film Festival and the “Cinema Vérité” Iran International Documentary Film Festival. He is the editor and author of a great many projects aside from his own. Some of the films he has directed include Soori’s Trip (Doumentary, 2009), Labyrinth (Docudrama Series, 2013, 15 Episodes), and Cockroach (Fiction Short, 2015).

Lately A report about Mina won “Special Mention Prize” and was nominated “Ogawa Shinsuke Prize” from Yamagata Documentary Film Festival (Japan 2015) and won “Best film Expressionist Narrative” from Black International Cinema Berlin Festival (Germany-2015)

LALE ALTUNEL – Self-iconization

Synopsis: The performative video shows the artist while doing make-up at first.
Then she cleans her make-up with a handkerchief.
At the end she shows the handkerchief with her image on it, just like the Veronica showing the mandylion of Jesus Christ

Bio: Graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts Sculpture department and then took the Master and Doctorate degree from the same program.
Works as Research Assistant at the same
department.
Participated several group exhibitions in Turkey, Bulgaria and Spain.

Leonard Traynor – Dance;//jpeg

Synopsis:  Dance//;Jpeg is a collaborative piece between Irish Artist Leonard Traynor and Contemporary Dancer Stephan Quinci.
This work is a continuation of Traynors earlier attempt to construct a new phonic understanding of emotion based jpegs by creating sound through image.
Stephan was invited to deconstruct these sound images through movement, signal and gesture.

Bio: Leonard Traynor received a first class honours degree in Fine Art from the Dublin School of Creative art’s in 2015. He was the winner of the ‘Image Now’ best use multimedia award and the recipient of the nationally acclaimed Lismore Castle Art Graduate Award 2015. His work has been shown nationally and internationally.

Lindy María Márquez Holguín – Corriente

Synopsis: Por ella supe de la resistencia en vida y de la entereza de su inocente lucha, que tiernamente quiere cambiar lo inevitable, aquello que mis rendiciones y la fuerza de un espacio insospechado, la dejarán con las manos vacías.

Bio: Artista Plástica y Visual de la Universidad de Antioquia, Magister en Artes Plásticas y Visuales de Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Sede Medellín. Vivo y trabajo en Medellín, y actualmente me encuentro realizando un proyecto artístico titulado Universo y un proyecto de investigación sobre la Hermandad de la infancia y la memoria, inscrito a los estudios de Doctorado en Artes que curso en la Universidad de Antioquia, donde también soy docente en el pregrado de Artes Plásticas.

Marcantonio Lunardi – Anthropometry 154855

Synopsis: Anthropometry 154855 focuses on the process of depersonalisation that a subject undergoes when he or she is imprisoned in the taxonomic mechanism of bureaucracy. The title, that clearly recalls the anthropometry through which Yves Klein established the canon of the human proportions, immediately underlines its specific identity by adding a number to it. 154855 is a matriculation number: it is in fact the number which the director gave to the protagonist of his movie, a man whose anthropometric parameters have been catalogued throughout his life up until the archiving of his last breath. The intuition this work is based on is the image of the measuring of the human body as an allusion to the classification procedures in the field of Nazi eugenics. This image is the summary of a long reflection and of a long research in which the tales of the victims of political persecutions, the knowledge of the Nazi anthropometry and the study of the interrogation techniques manuals, which were declassified during the Nineties, merge. In the manuals there are precise directions on torture but there are no cruel scenes or brutal descriptions. Actually, what is commonly considered abominable, is the simple result of a bureaucratic and aseptic procedure. Everything is reduced to this: pain and death are only procedures. The discipline of classification, when applied to a system of social organisation, becomes an instrument of discrimination and annihilation up to the point that a man is transformed in simple numerical series. The movie displays the progressive dispossession of his identity through the collection of his anthropometric measures, of his fluids and eventually of his last breath, which is then regularly catalogued and archived. During his trial, Eichmann said that he would not have felt at ease if he had refused to do, with zeal and chronometric precision, what he had been ordered.

Bio: Marcantonio Lunardi was born in Lucca in 1968.
Since 2001 he has been working in social and political documentation in the field of Media Art, creating installations, documentaries and video-art works.
After the master’s programs at the Festival dei Popoli in Florence with Michael Glawogger, Sergei Dvortsevoy, Thomas Heis and Andrés Di Tella, he began a path in the cinema of moving images, experimenting with languages at the border between the cinema of the real and the video-art. His works have been screened in some eminent international institutions. He also appeared in many other festivals of experimental cinema and video-art.
He currently lives and works in the mountain village of Bagni di Lucca, about 25 km far from Lucca, in Italy.
