Null Object moves on the border between video and performance, between desire for life and acceptance of death. The post human mother denies birth and her womb becomes a sort of retro-sci-fi machinery with a bio-mechanical structure that undoes life, does not create but generates death. Null Object presents the scandal of an intimate and personal reflection from joy to pain, from choice to disappointment. These changes of state are also suggested by the spatial trisection that recalls the classicism of the triptych and are developed through simple symbolic elements: the apple, the nails and the thread. All elements that in the iconographic tradition refer to the meaning of pleasure, curiosity, pain, life and death. The video is a contemporary reinterpretation of a classical theme of sacred art and considers the intimate experience of the relationship between sexuality and the social taboo of the rejection of motherhood.
Citron | Lunardi is a collaboration between two different personalities: Selene Citron (1986) passing from installations to performance and Luca Lunardi (1980) who works with video and writing. Selene Citron is a performer and a sculptor. She graduated and specialized in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. The research is based on the use of simple materials: plaster, argilla, resin, twine, iron. Her current artistic work focuses on digital fabrication and 3D printing. Luca Lunardi after the degree in literature from the University of Padua, specializing in the history and criticism of the film follows a path of artistic research, which leads him to explore the frontiers of some artistic languages (cinema, photography, video art, performance, literature). Their works of art have a critical view of the social, political, cultural and gender. Often they arise from a very urgent suggestion of some of the society’s problems. Lately Citron | Lunardi is thinking stories that consider critically about the sorts of technological developments and contemporary concerns related to the scientific innovation. Their works have participated in national and international exhibitions.
